Description of Organization:
ServiceNet is an agency that provides effective and responsive clinical, residential, rehabilitative, recovery, and support services to adults, children, and families. The Grove Street Inn is the only year-round shelter in Hampshire County open to all homeless adults. Guests at the Inn must commit to remaining drug and alcohol free and share in cooking, cleaning, and other household tasks. The Inn shelters up to 20 men and women per night, for a maximum stay of three months. A bed and three meals per day are provided, along with staff support. Most nights, the Inn is full, and there is often a 45 person waiting list.
Mission of Organization:
The Grove Street Inn was established in 1990 through community efforts, and with no permanent base of funding, a unique community collaboration shares the responsibility for administering the Inn. Residents are able to work on job and housing searches, work second and third shift jobs, and connect with rehabilitative and medical services. The Inn’s staff collaborates with the Hampshire County Interfaith Shelter, which served an additional 140 men and women during the 2009/2010 winter season.
